Registration & plates

The last step, done for you: Austrian plates, insurance confirmation, and a Wunschkennzeichen if you want one.

Registering an imported car is not the same counter transaction as registering a European one. The Zulassungsstelle wants the approval, the NoVA proof, the customs documentation and the insurance confirmation, and it wants them consistent with each other.

What we do

  • Assemble the complete file — approval, §57a, NoVA assessment, customs declaration
  • Arrange the insurance confirmation that registration depends on
  • Attend the Zulassungsstelle and register the vehicle in your name
  • Order a Wunschkennzeichen where you want one
  • Hand over plates, papers and the full import file

What you need to provide

Photo identification, your Meldezettel, and the insurance policy in your name. That is genuinely all — everything else is already in the file by this point.

What it costs

€890 including the registration fees and standard plates. Wunschkennzeichen at the official surcharge, passed through.

Common questions

How long does registration take once the car is here?

Two to four days, assuming the approval and §57a are already done. Those are the slow part, not the counter.

Can I register the car myself?

Yes, and some people prefer to. We will hand you a complete, ordered file — which is most of the battle.

Can a company register the car?

Yes, and it changes the VAT position. Worth deciding before the import rather than after.
