Questions

What the number does and does not include

Is this what I will actually pay?

It is an estimate, and a careful one — the duty and VAT are exact, the freight is from our real rate table, and the NoVA uses the current formula. What it cannot know is the final purchase price you negotiate, the exchange rate on the day we pay, and whether the tax office accepts your declared value. Ask us and we will fix a figure in writing.

Why does the CO₂ field matter so much?

Because if it is empty, Austria assesses NoVA on a substitute of engine power × 2. On a 335 kW car that is 670 g/km instead of a real 279 — and the difference runs past €55,000. It is the single largest variable in any American import.

What if I do not know the CO₂ figure?

Leave it empty and the calculator will show you the worst case, which is what you should budget for until it is resolved. Then talk to us: establishing a CO₂ value during the approval is part of what we do.

Is the NoVA really zero on an electric car?

Yes. A car declared at 0 g/km pays none at all. Enter 0 in the CO₂ field and watch the total drop — on a large electric SUV the exemption is worth more than the entire shipping cost.

Does anything get sent to you?

Not unless you ask. The calculation runs in your browser. If you press "email me this" or send an enquiry, we receive the figures along with your message.
